Not for the faint-hearted...

We're having our house re-stumped and what an dramatic process it is. First you have to clear out under your house. This is what we found (not the blue clam shell) and now have to get rid of. Tom also found lots of bones and shoes which completely freaked him out!

Once they actually lift the house and make it level this is what happens to your walls...

...and this is what happens to your garden. Isabella cried and cried when she saw what they had done to our 'lovely' garden. In truth the garden wasn't actually much chop but they did dig up the Snapdragons she planted last season along with everything but our two rosemary bushes.

...and this is what the house looked like when we went to sleep last night (that's our bedroom wall). Look Mum no hands!

So as you can see we have a lot of work ahead of us sanding back, plastering, painting and gardening. There's no going back now...

  2. At least we can laugh about it! Actually it's all good. It's put a bomb under us to do a few more things around the place. Next step is to install ducted heating while the boards are still off (even though Winter's over)!

  3. Aww, I hope Isabella cheers up- you can have fun planting a brand new, even better garden! :-)
Glad to see you have a nice stable house now...so apart from patching up cracks, that's it, you can not have to touch it for the next 50 years?

  4. Ha, ha, I wish! We are having quotes for central heating next week and then we're looking at designing a new bathroom. You're right about the garden though. It's an excellent excuse to start again and make it even nicer.

I'm sure it will be fantastic once it's all finished though.
