Out with the old, in with the new...

Are you having a lovely Easter? I hope so. I think Easter is one of the best holidays - less stressful than Christmas, lovely weather and lots of chocolate! To me Easter is also about new life, renewal and second chances. You know the theory that ever 7 years your body undergoes a total cellular renewal? Well, I recently took posession of my 6th new body and about time too I say! I really pushed the last one to the limit.

Over the past 7 years my body has carried, given birth to and feed two beautiful babies; slept very little; moved all its possessions twice; waited anxiously while 6 contracts with 6 different job titles were negotiated (even though they were all at the same place!), and agonised over buying its first home. I have faced the true extremes of human experience from the joyous birth of my children to the devastating loss of my parents. What has this all taught me? To be honest I'm not sure yet but I hope that whatever it is will inform the next 7 years which will hopefully be a lot less stressful than those just gone.

Happy Easter!

  1. You have accomplished a lot....I hope that you continue to do so and also find the peace that you are looking for in this next phase of your life.....and new decade.... oh and enjoy the chocolate too, always remember that less is more....unless it's chocolate!

  2. You mean I have several years to go before my next renewal? Darn! ;-)

Yep, you've certainly lived a lot in those seven years! I hope it's all good experiences coming your way in the next several cycles. :-)

  3. I love your blogs Caz. I'm so greatful to be able to say that I have known you for 31 years, I think? A least since the beginning of high school. I have always admired you, you never cease to amaze me. Thanks Caz.

  4. Thanks for your lovely words Loretta. You know the feeling is mutual! 31 years is a long time isn't it but I think we've still got a long way to go.

Thanks to you too Manu and Debby. We might not have know each other for that long but I'm really enjoying getting to know more about you both post by post!

  5. Beautiful post! Easter is my fave - better than Christmas by far, and for me too, it has that sense of renewal.
I hadn't heard the 7-year theory before but I like it. And what a lot you've achieved! I hope the next seven are full of good things.

    :-) Francesca

  6. Caz, that really made me think about the last 7 years! Got to know you ! Experienced the highs and lows of getting our oldest through secondary school. Watching and helping both of our children through the perils of adolescence. Nutting out what I want to do with my life and following its crazy meandering path. Becoming more aware and understanding of the needs of the ageing members of our family. Coming to terms with all the different relationships I have with my siblings whether they be my ideal or not.
We are the key link between the laffans and laffins.

  7. Thanks Francesca. It was partly your birthday wishlist and reflections on the past and future that started me thinking.

  8. I'm glad I got you thinking about your journey too Helen. We have been through a bit over that period haven't we? I found your new blog too so I'll be popping by regularly.
