Fifteen years ago today the first copies of The Big Issue hit the streets of Melbourne. Since that time the plucky little magazine has sold millions of copies, gone national and enriched the lives of 1000s of homeless and marginalised street vendors and their customers. Long may she reign (and don't forget to buy a copy next time you see a vendor!).
I love our BIG issue :) What a fantastic Birthday. When I worked for the State Trustees a number of my clients relied on selling the Big Issue to keep them employed and for the extra cash, such an important local publication.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more Estelle. Good luck with the new blog, it looks great!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Big Issue. The UK one has some really good articles too and I rely on it for the film and book reviews. I even did a piece of artwork called The Big Issue that was informed by researching into the lives of some of the vendors. Lovely Post Caz....
ReplyDeleteHope you have an awesome weekend it sounds wonderful...Debx
